Installing Tomcat in Plesk 10.x and 11.x Date Submitted: 11-26-2012 If you want to run Java applications on your Linux server with Plesk installed, you need to install Tomcat on your server. This might require you to access your server using SSH. See Accessing Your Virtual Private Server Using SSH or Accessing a Linux Dedicated Server Using SSH for more information.

Follow each of the procedures below to install Tomcat on your server using the Plesk Updates and Upgrades installer. It is not recommended to install Tomcat, using Plesk, on a server with third-party repositories installed. It's best to install Tomcat on a clean install of Plesk and CentOS.

To Install Tomcat in Plesk 10.x and 11.x

1. Log in to Parallels Plesk Panel as admin.
2. From the menu on the left, click Tools & Settings.
3. In the Panel section, click Updates and Upgrades.
4. Click Add Components.
5. Click + next to Plesk hosting features.
6. Select Tomcat Java Servlets support.
7. Click Continue.
8. If the installation is successful, a message stating All products and components have been successfully installed and upgraded. displays.
9. Close the installer window.
10. After the installer restarts Ples, log back in to the Plesk Panel as admin.

To Start Tomcat in Plesk 10.x and 11.x

1. Log in to Parallels Plesk Panel as admin.
2. From the menu on the left, click Tools & Settings.
3. From the Server Management section, click Services Management.
4. To the right of Server Management, click Play to start the Tomcat Server.

To Enable Tomcat for Subscriptions in Plesk 10.x and 11.x

1. Log in to Parallels Plesk Panel as admin.
2. From the menu on the left, click Subscriptions.
3. Click the link for the subscription you need to use Tomcat on.
4. Click Customize.
5. Click Show more available resources.
6. Select allow unlimited applications, or place a number in the field provided.
7. Click Update & Lock.

If you get a yum error installing Tomcat

1. Log in to SSH and change to the root user. See Accessing Your Virtual Private Server Using SSH or Accessing a Linux Dedicated Server Using SSH for moree information.
2. Type the following in SSH:

yum clean all

yum -y install yum-utils

yum-complete-transaction -y

yum-complete-transaction -y

yum-complete-transaction -y

yum-complete-transaction -y

yum-complete-transaction -y

yum-complete-transaction -y

yum-complete-transaction -y

yum-complete-transaction -y

Continue typing the command yum-complete-transaction -y until you get a message stating No unfinished transactions left.

1. You should now be able to install Tomcat following the first procedure in this article.
